Vaughen is a proud 2017 graduate of American University in Washington D.C., where she obtained a Master’s degree in Journalism and Public Affairs and a minor in Broadcast Specialty. She is also a 2013 graduate of Hofstra University in Long Island, New York, where she majored in Journalism. During her stint at Hofstra, Vaughen served the school’s national championship-winning dance team as a captain.

Vaughen serves at WWJ – CBS Detroit as a weekend evening news anchor and news reporter. Before joining WWJ-TV, Vaughen worked as a Reporter, Anchor, and Special Projects contributor at KUTV 2News / KMYU in Salt Lake City, Utah, from December 2019 to January 2022. Before his role in Salt Lake City, he served as a Multimedia Journalist and Reporter at WHNT News 19 in Huntsville, Alabama, from October 2017 to December 2019.
Prior to his journalism career, Vaughen pursued a career in dance. He worked as a Professional Dancer for the Washington Wizards at Monumental Sports & Entertainment in Washington D.C. from August 2014 to July 2017. Before that, he was a Professional Dancer for the New York Jets from May 2013 to May 2014. During his academic journey, Vaughen gained experience in media and journalism.
He interned as part of the Investigative and Documentary Team at Voice of America from January 2017 to June 2017. Additionally, he worked as a Reporter for the ‘Mineola American’ newspaper at Anton Community Newspapers from January 2012 to March 2012. In addition, Vaughen explored roles in social media coordination, working as a Social Media Coordinator at Slightly Mad from March 2013 to August 2013, and also interned with the same company from May 2012 to September 2012.
While in Salt Lake City, Utah, Vaughen reported on many big crimes, like the search for Gabby Petito and the case of “Doomsday Mom” Lori Vallow. During the Salt Lake City riot in May 2020, Vaughen provided live coverage on-air of human trafficking in Utah, for 8 successive hours. Vaughen also went to the places where disasters happened, like wildfires, windstorms, floods, and avalanches. In the year 2022, Vaughen went to Ukraine to report on how high-risk Ukrainian children were being taken away because of the war with Russia. When she was in Huntsville, Alabama, she talked about a lot of different things, like education, politics, tornadoes, and the bad effects of Hurricane Michael.
Prior to becoming a journalist, Vaughen used to be a professional dancer. She danced for the NFL’s New York Jets and the NBA’s Washington Wizards. When Vaughen was young, she competed in figure skating, and she also wrote for her high school newspaper.
