Shortly after, she transitioned to the role of evening news producer and anchor. During her time in Lima, Makupson took on the responsibility of anchoring and producing various nightly newscasts, which were broadcast on significant local TV networks like NBC, Fox, CBS, and ABC.
After a couple of years, Makupson moved to Macon, Georgia, where she served as an evening anchor and producer at WGXA. During her time there, she was responsible for anchoring and co-producing 1 evening newscast in Albany, GA, along with 4 nightly newscasts. After spending half a decade as an anchor, Makupson transitioned to become the news director of WMUB with the Center for Collaborative Journalism at Mercer University.
She also served at WMAZ in Macon, GA as a partner correspondent, providing weekly live reports on various topics including in-depth coverage of food insecurity, youth violence, and coronavirus. Additionally, Makupson shared her expertise by teaching studio production at Mercer University while overseeing other studio operations.
