Prior to joining WJAX, Hughes worked as the WSOC/WAXN Morning Anchor and Reporter in Charlotte, North Carolina, from August 2009 to August 2014. Hughes also contributed as a Freelance Contributor for Savvas Learning Company from 2021 to 2022 and briefly served as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the University of North Florida in the year 2018. Earlier in her career, she worked as a WPTY/WLMT Reporter in Memphis, TN, from July 2006 to July 2009, and as a WMAZ Anchor/Reporter in Macon, GA, from 2004 to 2006.
