Sargent has worked for KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas as a news anchor and reporter for 2 years and 10 months (August 2011 – May 2014). She has also worked for WPMI-TV in Mobile, Alabama as a legal show anchor and evening reporter for 1 year and 7 months (January 2010 – July 2011). Additionally, Sargent has served at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri as an anchor and reporter for 2 years. Throughout her career in journalism, she has won many Regional Edward R. Murrow and Emmy Awards, for her remarkable work.
Besides working as a journalist, Sargent is also a Licensed Attorney. For 4 years (2006 – 2010), Sargent served as an attorney at Greenberg Traurig, LLP in New York. There she advocated for clients in both state and federal courts in New York, in addition to representing them before the National Labor Relations Board and the New York Division of Human Rights.
During her time in New York, Sargent dedicated time to offering pro bono legal services to individuals in need. She has been a registered member of the New York Bar for over one and a half decades and remains in active status. While in college studying law, Sargent served as an editor and writer for the Legal Information Institute, concentrating on cases presented before the United States Supreme Court. Sargent has also emceed for Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center Luminary Awards, and she serves on the Board of Directors there. Additionally, she is actively involved in the NABJ – National Association of Black Journalists.
