Prior to working at WUSA-TV, he worked at WFMY-TV in Greensboro, North Carolina where he served as a weekend weather anchor. Initially, from 1984 to 1987, he worked at WTVK-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee where he served as a weekday weather anchor.
He kickstarted his TV career in 1981 by working at CNN in Atlanta where he served as a weather producer and substitute weather anchor till 1984 when he left the station. In 1988, he received the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval for both Radio and Television. In 1992, he co-founded a company that places automated weather stations in elementary schools throughout the Metro Area named Automated Weather Source.
