She has taken up the fight against the opioid epidemic and taught the community about addiction and rehabilitation after losing a loved one to a heroin overdose. Laura began working as the nightly anchor at KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas, in September 2020, alongside Bob Clausen.

Monteverdi previously worked at THV11 in Little Rock as a morning anchor and co-host of a one-hour lifestyle show that featured live music and focused on the community and current events. She worked as a morning anchor/reporter at KDLT in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, before moving to Arkansas. Monteverdi got a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a focus in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Laura was the anchor/reporter for her university’s news show, Florida Focus, throughout her college years. She also interned at WFLA’s Daytime, a nationally syndicated morning talk show in Tampa.

She has received two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and two Regional Emmy Awards for her efforts in educating audiences about the opioid epidemic and trying to eradicate the stigma associated with addiction.
