Before joining WGCL, he worked for WWLP - 22News in Springfield, Massachusetts as an anchor of 22News at 5:30 p.m., 22News at 6:00 p.m., and 22News at 11:00 p.m. weeknights on WWLP and as a member of the 22News I-Team. He worked for WWLP from April 2019 to April 2022. Shipman brings more than 22 years of journalism experience to WGCL.
He is a native of upstate New York, and he spent much of his career as the lead evening news anchor at WKTV in Utica, New York. He also taught journalism as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, Herkimer College. Shipman worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at several other New York television stations before joining WKTV. He is a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and has been active in the American Heart Association, United Way, Hospice, and the American Heart Association.
