Chris O’Connell Education
O’Connell attended Strath Haven High School. He later joined Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in radio-television-film. While finishing his course, he was working at WRTI-FM. He worked at the ABC News bureau during his semester overseas in London.

O’Connell is an Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter at Fox 29. He joined the FOX 29 News team in September 2010 as a general assignment reporter. O’Connell also co-anchors the Friday evening newscasts.
Prior to coming to Philadelphia, he was working KSTP in St. Paul in Minnesota as a reporter and anchor for twenty years. In addition, he worked at Bay News 9 in Tampa, Florida for one decade as a reporter and anchor prior to working at KSTP. He also hosted a sports talk show which was aired for an hour.
O’Connell worked as a bureau chief and reporter for two years at WTVR in Richmond, VA. Furthermore, he served at WAMU-FM radio in Washington, D.C, and WGAL and WLYH in Lancaster, PA. His General Assignment Reporting helped him earn an Emmy. The Society of Professional Journalists and Associated Press honored him for his reporting throughout his career.
He likes being involved in charities including The Friends of Alexander Deihl Foundation. It is a charity helping families of terminally ill children. In the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania, he serves on the Board of Directors.
