Murphy is a graduate of the University of California San Diego, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies. When it comes to his profession, Murphy serves at KRNV as a morning news anchor. This is however his second stint - he served at the station as the evening news anchor from 1997-2000.
From 2000-2002, he worked in Portland, Oregon at the Fox affiliate, and later on, he relocated to San Francisco and worked at KRON4 where he served as the morning anchor. In addition, while he worked at KRON4, that was when he fell in love with journalism as he had the opportunity to engage viewers and in-studio guests on everything from tension in the Middle East to easing tension through hosting yoga instructors live in the studio.
Furthermore, his most memorable interviews include; Henry Winkler, Gavin Newsom, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, H. Ross Perot, Ray Romano, and Don Rickles. Additionally, he stated that the nicest person he has interviewed in his 25 years on air was undoubtedly Smokey Robinson. Not long ago, he worked for Fox stations in Philadelphia and San Diego.
