During his career as a baseball player, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, he joined the Miami Marlins and complied 14 RBIs, 27 hits, six runs scored, six doubles, and a home run in 50 Major League games.
Scruggs also played for teams in Korea and Mexico and was drafted by the Cardinals in the 2008 MLB Amateur Draft. In addition to that, he was also drafted in 2005 by the Seattle Mariners in Round 50. He went to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) where he graduated and played college football.
