Whitney C. Johnson is an American journalist and co-anchor working for ABC News. He anchors the Saturday edition of ABC World News Tonight and co-anchors the weekend editions of Good Morning America. He joined the station back in March 2018.

Johnson started his journalism career after landing a job working for KSL-TV, Salt Lake City, Utah, where he served as an evening weekday anchor and reporter. Later on, he left the station and joined KNDO / KNDU, Washington where he served as a weekday reporter and weekend evening anchor. In 2009, he joined hands with CBS News where he served as a fill-in anchor as well as a correspondent. While at CBS, he managed to enclose many stories that hit the headlines which mainly aimed at the White House, Capitol Hill, and foreign policy issues.
Come 2012, he left CBS to work for KNBC where she served as a general assignment reporter. While here, he went to Sochi to enclose the 2014 Winter Olympics and also covered the Asiana flight 214 crash landing at San Francisco International Airport. He also managed to cover the Washington D.C. Navy Yard mass shootings and reported Live from Boston Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential run. Furthermore, he joined Today in L.A., in June 2014 whereby he co-anchored alongside Daniella Guzman. The two had succeeded Michael Brownlee and Michelle Valles who were given new roles. Brownlee was moved to the network’s noon newscasts while Valles was moved to the weekend morning newscasts. On December 13, 2017, he publicized that he was leaving KNBC but did not say the reasons behind his leaving the station.
In March 2018, he also appeared for the first time on the ABC News program Good Morning America as a co-anchor and correspondent. On March 21, 2018, he made his debut n ABC World News Tonight. Come September 29, 2018, the station publicized that Johnson would take over as a co-anchor of the weekend editions of Good Morning America. September 30, 2018, marked Johnson’s first day on Good Morning America. On February 1, 2021, the station publicized that Johnson would become the Saturday anchor of ABC World News Tonight, replacing the departing Tom Llamas.
