Wolff loved Broadcasting from a very young age, especially television. He loved game shows, sports on television, listening to radio broadcasts of Minnesota Twins baseball games, and watching old westerns. Wayne went to South Dakota State University and his roommate took a mass communications class, he told Wolff about it and it is then that he knew he really wanted a career in broadcasting.
Wolff’s first job was at a small radio station in Chadron, Nebraska where he worked as a News and Sports Director. Apart from covering local news in that area, he was as well the play-by-play voice for Chadron State College Eagle football and basketball games. Wayne says it was both educational and fun yet it required so much traveling since nothing is close to Chadron, Nebraska. He used to do very long trips.
Wayne stayed there for 2 years then moved to Sioux Falls to work as a television sportscaster, that is how he moved to his home state. After a few years of working late nights as he covered local sports, Wyne grew some interest in advertising.
He, therefore, took a position with an ad agency in Sioux Falls. Afterward, Wolff took a job offer at KFYR-TV in the Creative Services and Sales Department. He thus went to Bismarck in 1994 where he works ever since.
