Fernandes serves at WSB-TV as a news reporter for Channel 2 Action News. Before joining WSB-TV, she was working as a reporter at WFTX Fox 4. Fernades’s a Boston native but has grown to love Southern life, especially Georgia. Atlanta is a market Fernandes only dreamed of working in when she was a broadcast journalism student at Howard University, class of 2002.
She was the weekend anchor & lead reporter for WFTX Fox 4 in Fort Myers Florida. While at WFTX FOX 4, she exposed the highly inefficient and costly school transportation system in Lee County. The story led to a state audit shortening the bus ride for school children and overhauling the bus system saving taxpayers nearly two hundred thousand dollars. In 2009, she received an Edward R. Murrow Award for continuing coverage and positive changes resulting from three months of in-depth news coverage on the bus story.
She got her start as a multimedia journalist in January of 2004, at KWES in Midland, TX, where Tyisha started out shooting her own stories but was quickly promoted to weekend anchor in 2005. In her spare time, she loves to exercise & play sports. Tyisha is certified to teach Zumba & encourages everyone to try her class.

Tyisha Fernandes Arrested
On November 23, 2016, FOX 5 Atlanta made a report that Fernandes was facing DUI charges after an overnight arrest in Atlanta. According to the Atlanta police report of the incident, officers stated they stopped Fernandes on Piedmont Avenue for doing 66 in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. The report said that she first told the officers she was coming from a homecoming ceremony. Again, she said that she was coming from the WSB studios, before finally admitting that she really was coming from the Buckhead night club the Gold Room. Fernandes smelled like alcohol and he gave a sobriety test she was arrested and charged with speeding and DUI.
