Pennington is a TV host, author, carpenter, and former model/actor who gained fame for his role as a carpenter on Trading Spaces on TLC from 2000 to 2003. In 2003, he hosted “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” which was aired on ABC from 2003 till the series finale in 2012. Due to hosting Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, he received two Primetime Emmy Awards.

After Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ended, he started working on other projects including TNT’s On the Menu opposite Emeril Lagasse in 2014 and hosting ABC’s short-lived talk show The Revolution in 2012. From 2015 to 2016, he worked at The Food Network’s American Diner Revival opposite Amanda Freitag. It was later publicized that he would be joining the revival of Trading Spaces on September 13, 2017, and started airing on April 7, 2018, on TLC.
