Renck is a sports anchor and reporter working for Denver7. He joined the station in July 2016 as a Broncos insider and sportscaster. From 2002 through 2016, he worked at the Denver Post as the Rockies’ beat writer, prior to joining Denver7. In 2005, he added National Major League Baseball reporter to his duties. He was named the Colorado Sportscaster of the Year in 2019.
In 2014, he joined The Post’s Broncos beat and during the team’s Super Bowl season in 2015, he became the lead reporter. He was over the circulation category of the Associated Press Sports Editors 2016 contest and was awarded the 2016 Top Breaking News award in the 175,000 in 2016. This was after he covered Peyton Manning’s retirement.
He has won more than 25 local and national writing awards and is a past president of the local chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. For three years he covered CU athletics for the Colorado Daily later he worked for one year as the sports editor of Today’s Daily News in Lake Havasu City. From 1994 through 1996, he worked with The Yuma Daily Sun.
After a period of time, he moved back to Colorado at The Daily Times-Call in Longmont, to serve as a reporter and columnist. While there, he started Broncos and Rockies from 1996 to 2000. Prior to joining MLB.com where he served as the Rockies’ beat reporter for one season in 2001, he worked as a national NFL columnist for Broadband sports for seven months.
