She graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a minor in Asian American studies. Mai serves as an anchor of 12 News at Noon and First @ 4, which airs on weekdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. She began her career as a production assistant at KABC in Los Angeles in 1995. She got her first reporting job out of the Gainesville bureau at WOFL in Orlando, FL. She began working at CFN-13 in the Volusia County bureau in Florida a year later. She then spent three years as a reporter and weekend anchor in Columbus, OH before joining KPNX in 2003.
Tram has won Emmys for anchoring and reporting throughout her career. She has also received several Emmy nominations, most recently for Best Anchor in 2019; she has also received a Casey Award and awards from the Ohio Society of Professional Journalism.
Tram has covered some of the biggest stories of our time, from the hurricanes in Florida to Senator John McCain’s death and Arizona’s historic ‘Red for Ed’ teacher walkout. Tram has also co-hosted shows with Regis Philbin, interviewed celebrities, and covered the red carpet.
