Tony Pedregon Career
Pedregon serves as the FOX NHRA broadcast alongside veteran play-by-play announcer Dave Rieff. He began his professional drag racing career in 1992, qualifying for his first event in a Top Fuel dragster before switching to Funny Cars for owner Larry Minor in 1995. In 1996, Pedregon joined the team of 16-time Funny Car champion John Force and campaigned for a second Funny Car for the team, winning the inaugural Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award.
Pedregon won his first championship in 2003, after winning eight national events and collecting Wallys along the way. Pedregon and Force split up at the end of that year when Tony joined older brother and fellow Funny Car champion (1992), Cruz Pedregon, to form Pedregon Racing. Tony finished eighth in the 2004 Funny Car championship standings in his first season as an owner/driver, his ninth consecutive season finishing in the top ten.
Tony won four national events in 2007 and won his second NHRA Funny Car championship, his first as an owner/driver. Pedregon has driven in several NHRA categories, including Funny Car, Top Fuel, and Top Alcohol Dragster, and has won 43 national events in 76 NHRA final rounds during his career.
Pedregon was in his early twenties when he began painting the racing helmets of his older brothers, Frank and Cruz. Other racers took notice, and he soon found himself designing and painting helmets for Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Kenny Bernstein, and Cory McClenathan.
