Tom Sorrells is an American Emmy-Award-Winning Meteorologist working for WKMG News 6 serving the station as a Chief Meteorologist since the year 2008. Prior to this, he was working for WHMI-FM, Livingston Radio Company as a Meteorologist. He undertook this role between 1996 and 2007.

Sorrells works for WKMG News 6 in Central Florida serving the station as a Chief Meteorologist/Evening Weather Anchor/Reporter. Tom brings the weather News every weekday at 4 pm, 5 pm, 5:30 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, and 11 pm. As for his education, he attended Western Kentucky University. After this, he went on to join The Ohio State University.
He is dedicated to bringing accurate weather reports to the neighborhood. Tom states that the viewer’s safety is his top concern and this is why he works hard to help them plan for their day, keep them prepared for whatever weather comes their way, and stay safe from dangerous weather conditions.
He also pinpoints storms and tracks them hour by hour as they make their way through Central Florida. In the Florida Hurricanes of 2004, he started a segment titled. In this segment, people from all over Central Florida would call and get answers about the movement of dangerous storms and how to keep their families safe.
Through his work, he was privileged to earn Local 6 the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for journalistic excellence in its coverage of Hurrican Charley, Jeanne, and Frances. Back in the year 2002, he received an Emmy Award for Meteorology Talent. This award highlights Tom’s ability to present and communicate weather forecasts in a way that people can easily understand and appreciate.
During his time in Ohio back in the year 1995, The Associated Press also recognized his talents and honored him with the Best Weather Operating Award. Asides from this, through his personable weathercasts, he has earned the National Weather Association Seal of Approval and the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.
He also graduated from Western Kentucky University and received additional studies from Ohio State University. Tom has also worked in markets across the United States which include Columbus, Myrtle Beach, and Detroit. Away from work, he enjoys spending his time with his family in beautiful Central Florida. On a nice day, he also enjoys riding his motorcycle and going fishing.

His favorite movie on the other hand is The Sundance Kid, Casablanca, Butch Cassidy, and The Graduate. On the hand, his favorite TV Show is The Sopranos and West Wing. Sorrells’s favorite Actor/Actress is James Dean and Humphrey Bogart who unfortunately passed away.
His favorite living actors and actresses are Robert DeNiro, Ashley Judd, and Kevin Spacey. He stated that his favorite quote is “Don’t die wondering.” Last but not least, the place he would really love to visit is Cuba, Japan, and Greek Islands.
