Ezell left FOX 2 News on his first stint in the year 2014 to be a full-time pastor. He announced his departure on June 10, 2014. Ezell went on to be a full-time lead pastor of The Journey South County church located at 1054 Forder Rd, at Bernard Middle School, in the Mehlville area. He posted a video on YouTube where he did an explanation of his faith and being a pastor. Ezell had his 1st service at the new location on September 8, 2014.
At the time of his departure, his colleagues thanked him for his years of commitment, insane antics, and excellence. They wished him well in his new endeavor and were pleasured to work with him. One of his colleagues said that Ezell always made his guests on the air feel comfortable and he was such a fun guy. Ezell however rejoined FOX 2 News – KTVI and KPLR where he continues to deliver his unique brand of storytelling on FOX 2 and KPLR.

In August 2023, Ezell revealed that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease two years prior (2021). He stated that it all began with symptoms like fatigue, slow-motion movement, lack of balance, and stiffness. He undergoes the necessary treatments and medications, hoping for the best (there is no cure for the disease).
