Ted Reinstein Career
Reinstein graduated from Brandeis University with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree and was valedictorian of his class. He serves at WCVB-TV as a reporter for the nightly news magazine, “Chronicle”, Boston’s celebrated and America’s longest-running, locally-produced TV news magazine. He was part of the Chronicle team that won a prestigious national DuPont-Columbia Broadcast Journalism Award in 2002 for their coverage of Boston’s tumultuous “Big Dig,” the country’s largest-ever public works project.
Ted can also be seen in the studio at the anchor desk or giving an opinion commentary, but viewers are most familiar with him out in the field. He’s collected the offbeat, the unique, the moving, and the simply memorable from every corner of New England, all while telling the region’s enduringly colorful stories about its people and places. Politics is another passion of his, and he contributes weekly to WCVB’s political roundtable show, “On The Record.”
He’s also on the editorial board of the station. He was one of five national finalists in the Washington Post’s competition for the “Next Great American Pundit” in 2010. Ted was also the host of the first season of the Discovery Channel’s Popular Mechanics show. On HGTV’s Lighthouses, he brought viewers up close and personal with some of America’s most iconic landmarks. He traveled to Hawaii’s volcanoes, Puerto Rico’s caves, and Tahiti’s South Pacific islands for the Travel Channel’s photo adventure series FreezeFrame.
