She has been covering news as well as producing television shows ever since. Her aim is to tell thought-provoking and exciting stories in a way they will understand perfectly. In 2008, she was nominated for two local Emmy Awards for investigative reports and also nominated for two national Daytime Emmy Awards. She won an award in 2015 for the Oprah Winfrey Network series Home Made Simple, an “Outstanding Lifestyle Program.”
McRae has been a member of the Women in Film & Television, Women Leaders Forum, Producers Guild of America, the National Association of Black Journalists, Writers Guild of America, NABJ Los Angeles, and also the International Documentary Association. She has worked for Humanity on the Board of Directors in Palm Springs. In August 2020, she was named anchor of the award-winning public affairs program In Focus SoCal.
