Before coming to 6abc, she was a staff writer at TIME Magazine. Edwards co-anchors Action News Mornings newscasts from 4 a.m to 7 a.m. She also co-hosts Inside Story, conducting probing interviews with newsmakers like Mayor Michael Nutter, Senator Bob Casey, and Governor Tom Corbett and moderating many election debates.
She was serving as an ABC News correspondent based in the network’s Washington, D.C., bureau prior to working with World News Now. Edwards covered culture, religion, and education for World News Tonight and other ABC News programs. In August 2001, she joined ABC News as a White House correspondent.
Between 1995-1997, she was a correspondent for the Washington bureau, reported breaking news, Bob Dole’s presidential campaign politics, and society. She was a Time reporter in New York covering international news for two years prior to coming to Washington. In the course of her time in New York, she reported an international art-world ruckus over a group of Canadian prehistoric figurines, the international expansion of MTV News, and global issues from the reclamation of an ancient Jewish text in Bosnia.
Her contribution to Time’s 1999 cover story, What Makes a Good School helped her to receive Ms. Edwards’s first prize from The Education Writers Association. She was named a journalist for “The Next Establishment,” by Vogue magazine n its August 2000 issue. Later in November of the same year, Folio magazine featured her on the “30 Under 30” list.
