She covered everything from the raising of a Civil War submarine in Charleston to in-depth interviews with world-renowned conservationist, Jane Goodall, and Titanic discoverer, Bob Ballard, then to a multi-part series in Egypt with Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass.
In 2002, she made a return to New Orleans and began working for WWNO, a public radio station. She then started freelancing as a reporter for NPR’s programs, including “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered,” among others. She began anchoring, as well as reporting part-time for WGNO-TV in 2003. Roesgen was hired as the inaugural Correspondent for CNN’s Gulf Coast Bureau, which started in New Orleans in 2005, after her work as a reporter for WGNO and NPR during Hurricane Katrina.
