Steven Montiero best known as “Trooper Steve” is an American Anchor working for WKMG News serving the station as a Morning Traffic Safety Expert. He has been working with the station since the month of October 2017.

Montiero works for WKMG News serving the station as a Morning Traffic Safety Expert. One may find his traffic reports every weekday morning from 5 AM to 7 AM and on News 6 at 9 AM. The Central Florida native and decorated combat veteran comes to the station following an eight-year assignment with the Florida Highway Patrol.
During his time there, his responsibilities included patrolling Osceola, Brevard, Volusia counties, Lake, Seminole, Orange, and along with the Orlando area of the Florida Turnpike. Later on, he was assigned to the Florida Highway Patrol Motorcycle Unit. There, he began doing public speaking engagements and found his passion for community involvement.
After this experience, he became the face of FHP in Orlando. Lt. Kim Montes took Steven under her wing and made him assistant Public Affairs Officer. In the last several years, he became known across the Sunshine State as “Trooper Steve.”
He has spent his time doing everything from corporate events to interviews on WKMG. This is while hanging out with kids in hopes of spreading the word about safe-decision making in hopes of saving just one life.
Montiero brings a wealth of knowledge to Central Floridians which includes crisis negotiations, extensive traffic safety experience, military operations, weapon knowledge, and law enforcement tactics. He enjoys traveling and enjoying exploring everything there is about Florida beaches.
Montiero states that his favorite restaurant is Café Tu Tu Tango whereas his favorite food is seafood. Asides from this, his favorite genre of music is anything that can make his foot tap. Steven’s favorite author is Dave Grossman while his favorite book is The Lottery.
On the other hand, his favorite team is Dallas Cowboys. Montiero’s favorite TV show is Game of Thrones while his favorite quote is Greater love hath no man than to lay his life down for his friend..” John 15:13. Montiero states that the place he would really love to visit is the Vatican City.
