Stephanie Scurlock Career
Scurlock serves as a news anchor and reporter at WREG-TV based in Memphis, Tennessee. On joining WREG-TV in July 1991, she started off by serving as a reporter and later on as an anchor. Since starting her career as an anchor and reporter, she has enclosed several stories in different parts of the USA and Africa. She also went to Dakar, Senegal with the Tennessee Air National Guard and reported on a humanitarian mission. In Senegal, Scurlock and the team donated clothes, computers, and school supplies to the less fortunate children in Dakar.
Scurlock also enclosed the arrest and conviction of the 1994 case of the West Memphis 3. She has also received several awards and honors including a Regional Emmy and honors from the TN Associated Press and Best Enterprise from The Organization for enclosing a story following the difficulties of a man fighting drug addiction.
Scurlock also spent some time working at the University of Memphis serving as an adjunct professor in the Department of Journalism. She is also an active board member of a charitable organization that assists Memphians achieve financial self-sufficiency named RISE. In addition to that, she also spent time in the NAACP Membership Campaign as Honorary Chair.
Prior to joining WREG-TV, she worked at KTAL-TV in Texarkana, TX where she served as an anchor and reporter. She went to the University of Central Arkansas at Conway where she attained her degree in Broadcast Journalism. In addition to that, she is also an active member of The Links, the National Association of Black Journalists, Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, and the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
