Shon Gables is an American Anchor/Reporter working for CBS 46 News/Atlanta News First Serving the station as an Evening News Anchor for the 9 PM Newscasts. She has been working with the station since March 2018.
Shon Gables Education
Gables attended the University of Oklahoma where she studied between August 1988 and May 1992. There, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. While there, she was a member of IRE, Investigative, Reporter, and Editor. This is in addition to being a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Southeast Chapter.
After this, she went on to join Louisiana Tech University where she studied between August 2017 and May 2019. While there, she obtained a Master of Business Administration in Business and Commerce. There, she graduated with a 3.9 GPA. While there, she was a Golden Key International Honor Society, and Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Society.
Shon Gables Career
Gables works for CBS 46 News serving the station as a Weekday Evening News Anchor. She has a deep history of working in journalism throughout the Southwest region. She kick-started her broadcasting career working for KWCH in Wichita, Kansas where she was reporting news and anchoring a station public affairs program.
After this, she made a move to KWTV located in Oklahoma City where she was serving the station as a Reporter, Anchor, and News Producer. While there, she was covering US Military issues that affect Tinker Air Force Base. There, she was serving as a United States Army Reservist for about seven years. Additionally, she was also working in radio at KVSP in Oklahoma City as a News Director.
She joined the WDIV News in Detroit serving the station as a News Reporter and Morning Anchor which was while covering local news. In her time in Detroit, she was serving as a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society’s Southwest Michigan Division. This led her to produce a two-hour special on breast cancer awareness.
During her time working on the BET program, she was interviewing top newsmakers which include Time Warner Chairman Richard Parsons, President Barack Obama, BET co-founder Shelia Johnson, and Texas-based Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Hillary Clinton. She was recently the evening news anchor and investigative reporter for the ABC Affiliate in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Gables was also anchoring the local news at WCBS Morning Broadcasts between 2003 and 2006, she was covering many of New York’s most memorable stories and community events. These include the Republican National Convention, the Summer Olympics bid, the Twin Towers Memorial, the blackout of 2003, the Historic New York City Subway Centennial Celebration, the NYC Transit strike, and the Statue of Liberty.
The Emmy-nominated journalist also hosted a variety of televised specials throughout her broadcast career. She states that Salute to NYC Schools: Truman High School and the Tunnels to Towers Run is particularly to her heart. Additionally, she hosted the program and participated in the run, which helped honor New York firefighters who died on the 11th of September 2001.
Additionally, while in New York, she also wrote and anchored “Salute to Harlem.” This covered Harlem’s economic development, future, and social impact. She went on to become the host of Black Enterprise Magazine’s nationally syndicated program “Black Enterprise Business Report.” At that time, this was a television-only business news and executive lifestyle program that was focused entirely on Africa-Americans, hence reaching 80% of all black households in more than 211 markets.

Gables happens to be an Emmy-nominated journalist and the recipient of the 2017 Louisiana Broadcasters Prestige Award for best election coverage. Additionally, she received a Lee Evans Outstanding Journalist Award, the 2003 New York City Excellence in Media Award by the Harlem Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Black Journalists awards. This is in addition to being the recipient of the National Black Achiever in Industry Award.
Asides from this, she received an American Women in Radio and Television’s Gracie Award and was privileged to be one of the Network Journal’s 40 under 40 Black Achievers. Asides from this, she served on the board of Eagle Academy, an all-boys public school in the Bronx, New York.

However, he shared that his mother did not graduate from high school and that her dream was to see her kids go through high school. She was raised alongside her six siblings and had to fight her way out of poverty. Gables doesn’t shy away from sharing her story.
Growing up, she and her siblings worked like migrant farmers, and refers herself to be the last generation in her family to pick pepper, harvest peanuts, and pick melons. It is the difficulty in Shon’s life that motivated her to become an achiever and she states that this is just the beginning. Gables has been married about three times previously with her relationships going through a fair share of turbulent. She was married to her ex-husband named Bryan Abrams who she tied the knot with back in the year 1992. Abrams happens to be the former Color Me Badd Singer. According to her, the duo departed as Abram decided to leave her when he realized she was pregnant with their son named Ryan. The duo later divorced and proceeded to have drawn-out legal battles for child support.
Afterward, she fell in love with a man named Peter Klamka who she later tied the knot with. Unfortunately, this marriage did not work out and they ended up in an acrimonious divorce. The duo ended up in court after she had made false reports regarding Klamka leading to his arrest. Klamka later sued her for making false allegations against him. After Shon was found guilty of lying to authorities and contempt of court, she was ordered to pay a $250,000 fine.
After this, she found love in a man named Anthony Robinson. The duo are still in marriage and have been married since the year 2009. They are proud parents to their two sons and one daughter.
