Shawn Chitnis is an American multimedia journalist and news anchor/reporter working for KPIX – CBS San Fransisco. He joined the station in October 2021. He is well-known for having worked at CBS4 Denver in Colorado.

Chitnis graduated from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC and is a proud Trojan! FIGHT ON! His first job out of college was also in his home state as a morning reporter and MMJ for KNDO-TV in Yakima, Washington. That job was a chance to come back to the Northwest after spending four years in Los Angeles. Shawn loves living in a big city again and calling Denver home.

Chitnis serves at KPIX – CBS San Fransisco as a news reporter. Before joining KPIX, he worked for CBS4 Denver as a news reporter, not only reporting in front of the camera but also shooting and editing his own video. He joined CBS4 in August 2015 and left in October 2021. At CBS4, Chitnis also ran his own live shots using a special backpack that sent out a video and audio signal to the station. He came to CBS4 as the station’s first overnight reporter. For two years, Chitnis was working while you sleep and tried to sleep while you were probably working. After chasing stories that broke overnight, Chitnis’s excited to cover a variety of topics that often only happen during daylight.
Prior to moving to Denver, he spent four years as a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Spokane, Washington. Chitnis worked as an MMJ and covered a variety of stories including local politics, severe weather, and major trials in town. He always enjoyed reporting on the growth of local businesses in the community and changes in education at all grade levels.
While at KREM-TV, Chitnis covered one of the largest wildfires in Washington state history nonstop for 24 hours. Chitnis was also the first journalist to sit down with former Spokane NAACP President Rachel Dolezal after allegations about her misleading the community about her race were revealed. Chitnis’s interview was picked up by CBS News and other major news organizations around the world.
