Sharon Chen is an American Emmy Award-winning News Anchor working for WOWT-TV/KSWB-TV since joining the station in January 2019. She anchors news at WOWT 6 News and reports the news for FOX 5 San Diego at KSWB-TV.
Chen is a proud alumnus of California State University in San Bernardino, as well as the University of California in Los Angeles. At California State University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism, and at the University of California, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
Chen began her broadcasting career at KDUH-TV in Scottsbluff, where she worked as a reporter, anchor, producer, and photographer. She then moved to 10/11 News in Lincoln, which is WOWT’s sister station. She went to the picturesque Front Range region of Colorado Springs, where she worked as an Anchor/Reporter at KOAA TV, after four years in Nebraska.
Chen traveled to the gorgeous islands of Hawaii after suffering the cold of the Rockies and Midwest. She was the News Anchor/Reporter at KHNL-TV, where she covered the latest news from Honolulu to the smaller island villages of Hawaii’s Big Islands of Lanai, Molokai, and Kauai.
Chen then relocated to San Diego, where she has lived for the past years. She began her career at Fox 6 News before moving on to Fox 5 San Diego. She covered major headlines as a News Anchor/Reporter, including the repercussions from controversial Mayor Bob Filner, the daily breaking news from America’s Finest City, Comic-Con, and the 2014 May Wildfires. During her leisure, you can find her experimenting in the kitchen to come up with a new gourmet masterpiece. Also, she likes hanging out with her friends and family during her free time.
