Scott Connell Profile
Scott Connell is an American Meteorologist currently working for KSDK-TV since joining the station in the month of January 1991. He currently serves as the Chief Meteorologist at the station. He began as a co-anchor of Today in St. Louis, alongside Jennifer Blome and Art Holliday.
Connell’s forecasts on Today in St. Louisiana have woken up St. Louisans for 2 decades and 6 years. He had to get up at 12:30 am every workday to fulfill that task. He switched to a more traditional sleep schedule in the year 2017 and appeared on 5 On Your Side every weekend and on other newscasts on weekdays. In July 2019, he was elevated to Chief Meteorologist.

Connell first became interested in weather in the year 1979, when a blizzard destroyed his hometown on Maryland’s eastern shore with about 2 feet of snow and five-foot drifts. He says, “It was every kid’s dream. There’s a lot of snow, and there’s no school for a week!” That was the turning point in his decision to pursue a career in weather.
A new TV station was coming to town when Connell was in grade 8. He saw in the papers that they were looking for a meteorologist, so he dressed up in his gray slacks, a tie, and 1 navy blue jacket, and walked down to the old drug shop that was being converted into a TV station. Even though he was just 14 years old, he requested a meeting with the general manager. He told the general manager that he wanted to do the weekend weather. He then found himself in the news director’s office, telling him what he could do. The general manager asked Connell to prepare a resume, so they must have found it amusing. Connell’s first big break in television came when the news director created a position for him, allowing him to come in every week and research the low and high temperatures.
Connell says that that was the time before computers, which can today do in a few minutes what took him several weeks to achieve. Even though he wasn’t on-air, meteorologists John Bulatewicz, Mike Seidel, and Greg Fishel, of The Weather Channel provided him with an excellent education in weather.
Connell is a proud alumnus of North Carolina State University(N.C.S.U), as well as Mississippi State University. He graduated from N.C.S.U with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in the year 1988. From M.S.U, he graduated with a Masters of Science in Geoscience, in the year 2012. He worked part-time for TV stations in Raleigh and New Bern while pursuing his college degree, gaining valuable experience. His first appearance on television is a memory he’ll cherish forever.
