Mitchell serves at KTLA as a general assignment reporter. Before joining the station, she served at CBS2/KCAL9 as a reporter and anchor for 15 years. Her most recent role at CBS2/KCAL9 was an anchor of the KCAL9 News at Noon. Known for her calm demeanor, Sandra has solo anchored during some of the considerable news stories in recent history. She was live on the anchor desk to announce the death of Michael Jackson and covered the deaths and funerals of former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.
Sandra was a reassuring presence as a solo anchor during the Newtown, the Boston Marathon bombing, the Connecticut school massacre, and the Santa Monica College shooting rampage. Sandra also was the first anchor on television during the deadly shootout with former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, who live as it happened. She also anchored live coverage of the election of the new Pope and the birth and introduction of the Royal Baby Prince George.
