Sandi Patty is an American award-winning Christian music singer, pianist, and author who is very well known for her timeless gospel hit music. She has also written and published over 9 books.

Patty went to Crawford High School in San Diego where she attained her high school diploma. She, later on, joined San Diego State University and Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana where she studied voice and graduated with an emphasis in conducting.

Sandi Patty Singing Career

Patty joined Singspiration in 1979 and debuted her first professional record called Sandi’s Song. In 1982, she won her first two GMA Dove Awards and even started singing as a backup for Bill Gaither and the Bill Gaither Trio. In 1984, she held her very first national tour which expanded her audience especially after performing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” On July 6, 1986, the ABC Statue of Liberty re-dedication broadcast included “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

After appearing on the ABC Statue of Liberty re-dedication, Patty appeared on several mainstream Television including Christmas in Washington. She also appeared on The Tonight Show, the 1998 Pepsi 400, and Walt Disney’s Fourth of July Extravaganza. In addition to that, Patty also sang the national anthem at the Indianapolis 500 in 1987–88, 2013, and 1990–92.

Patty released her single, “I’ll Give You Peace” in 1990  under one of her well-known records, Another Time…Another Place. “I’ll Give You Peace” was written by Thomas Yarbrough and Constant Change aka Dawn Thomas. Time…Another Place was very successful and even hit #2 on the Billboard Christian Albums charts. During this time, her concerts were heavily attended by people from all across the world and her performances would inspire thousands of people there. She then released her next album in 2010 called The Edge of the Divine which featured 8 new songs.

Trying to break the monotony, she began rebuilding her career by having pop concert performances with symphony orchestras. Some of the orchestras she worked with include Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Symphony Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. She also performed with the Dallas Symphony, and the Cincinnati Pops, and hosted and headlined the Yuletide Celebration with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. In December 2017 and 2021, Patty hosted the extravaganza.

In 2006, Patty made an appearance on the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
