She went to Florida International University where she attained her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. Vargas serves as the weekday morning anchor on NBC 6 Today and as the host of NBC 6’s lifestyle and entertainment show “6 in the Mix.” She has more than a decade of on-air news experience in her native South Florida, including consumer, health, and entertainment feature reporting as well as covering local and national breaking news. She was named “Best TV News Anchor” in 2018 and “Best TV Host” in 2012.
Vargas also co-anchors NBC 6 News weekday mornings with Sheli Muiz, meteorologists Adam Berg and Angie Lassman, and traffic reporter Kristin Sanchez. Vargas also contributes Spanish-language reports to NBC 6’s sister station, Telemundo 51.

Vargas has been recognized by Save and The Aqua Foundation for Women as a three-time Flamingo Award winner and was awarded the key to the City of Miami Beach when she served as Ally Grand Marshal during Miami Beach Gay Pride 2018 for her support as an ally of the LGBTQ community.
She was inducted into famed fashion designer Donna Karan’s Women Who Inspire Program in 2014, joining an elite group of women around the world that included Brooke Shields, Demi Moore, and Maria Shriver.
