Meloni serves at WDIV-TV as the Business Editor on Local 4 News and Certified Financial Planner Professional. He worked as an anchor, editor, and investigative reporter in Saginaw, Michigan, Tampa and Miami, Florida, and Portland and Bangor, Maine before joining WDIV-TV News.
After years of leading Local 4’s coverage of the automobile industry meltdown and the financial challenges of the City of Detroit and Wayne County, Rod has become a specialist in bankruptcy and corporate and municipal restructuring efforts.
He has also received the International Wheel Award for Excellence in Automotive Journalism as Business Editor. One of his ambitions was to be able to authoritatively describe the business and personal finance to everyone.
To that end, he became the first working journalist in the country to pass the arduous Certified Financial Planner Professional exam and earn the designation of Certified Financial Planner. Rod is a member of the Detroit Automotive Press Association’s board of directors, as well as the Oakland University Center for Business Excellence’s board of directors.
Rod has also taken up running as part of his duties as honorary Co-Chair of the Open Door Outreach Center’s annual Julie Run. Open Door is a charitable initiative initiated by the Meloni family’s parish, St. Patrick Church in White Lake.
