Rick Quan is an American Anchor/Reporter working for KITV 4 News in Honolulu, Hawaii serving the station as an Evening News Anchor for the 10 PM Newscast since January 2020. He had previously worked for the station as a Sports Anchor and Reporter between July 1980 and July 1987.

Quan works for KITV4 News serving the station as an Evening News Anchor. The KITV 4 Island News team was excited to welcome him back to their Ohana. Rick is a familiar face after working for KITV for about seven years as the Sports Anchor and Reporter. Additionally, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he was working for KPIX-TV and KGO-TV.
Rick stated that it was a dream come true for him to return to the Islands and work for my former station. He states that Honolulu has greatly changed since he last worked there but the Spirit of Aloha has remained strong. Rick stated that he is looking forward to seeing every soon.
In the course of his journalism career, he has been privileged to win about two regional Emmys and be recognized by the Peninsula Press Club, the Radio-TV News Directors Association, and the Associated Press. Additionally, he was voted as the favorite TV Anchorperson four times by readers of the Alameda Newspaper Group. During Rick’s first period working for KITV 4, local sportscasters and sportswriters named him the Hawaii Sportscaster of the Year.
Quan is also known for his work as a Sportscaster and is also an award-winning documentary producer. Asides from this, he profiled a number of Asian American prisoners. Quan’s recent subject was the late Ed Lee. Lee was the first Asian American Mayor of San Francisco.
Asides from this, he produced the “Art of Gaman.” This is a documentary show which showcased the artwork of Japanese American World War II internees. Asides from this, he has always been very active in the Asian American community and worked with many non-profits which include the Chinese Historical Society of America. As for his education, Quan attended The University of Texas at Austin where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio and Television.
