He has worked 16-year radio and during that time he was also doing some part-time work in television.
He began broadcasting while in high school during his junior year after taking a radio course. Elmhorst started working at the Bay area Christian radio station WCIE in 1980. He continued working there while attending Florida Southern College in Lakeland where he graduated in 1984.
In 2005, he was awarded a distinguished graduate award. During his free time, he likes spending quality time together with his family, especially his two beautiful granddaughters. In addition, he likes speaking to civic groups and local charities.
