On April 18, 2022, CNN Business revealed Roth’s recovery from successful kidney transplant surgery. It was announced that Samira Jafari, his colleague was Roth’s donor of the kidney. Roth calls Samira his “heroine.” Roth said that this is his second transplant. About 2 and a half decades ago, he received a kidney from a deceased donor. In September 2021, he wrote a letter to his colleagues that his valiant kidney was rapidly dying inside him and that he should have an organ donation as soon as possible. However, he received a kidney from Samira Jafari, underwent a successful transplant, and is now in good health.
