While there, he covered a lacrosse team assault at Fairfield High School in Connecticut, 50 shots fired at motorist Sean Bell by New York Police and the crane collapsed on the city’s east side. In addition, he covered the Coney Island plane crash.
Before that, he served at KSTP-TV in Minneapolis as a crime-beat reporter, and also in Pittsburgh, Pa at WPXI-TV as a reporter. During his time there, he covered the rescue of the miners at Que Creek Mine in Somerset County, Pa, and the crash of Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001. In addition, he was a reporter and anchor at WHIO-TV in Dayton, Ohio, KTIV-TV in Sioux City, Iowa, and also at WOWT-TV in Omaha, Neb.
He is a National Association of Black Journalists member. Chapman believes in volunteering, he likes donating his time to the Urban League, the YMCA, and NAACP. which honored him as a Black Achiever. His work in the community helped him to be selected as one of Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest.
