Preston Mitchum is an American Queer Advocate/Activist/Attorney/Professor who happens to be among the cast members of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard. Mitchum attended Trotwood-Madison High School in Trotwood, Ohio, and graduated with a High School Diploma in the year 2004. After High School, he went on to join Kent State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. There, he was concentrating on Public Policy.

Being a former prom king, he has an extensive resume that doesn’t end with an attorney. He is also an activist and adjunct professor. He has also appeared in cable news shows as a contributor. This is in addition to being published across countless media outlets for his political and legal expertise.
Asides from this, he has been to the Vineyard and considers it one of the most amazing and beautiful places that he has ever seen. Despite stating that he will miss Donald, his partner for about two years, he is excited to spend summer Vineyard with Jasmine and his beloved fraternity brother Silas.
Mitchum happens to be the Founder & Principal of PDM Consulting. This is a multi-purpose consulting firm that is focused on the power of Black people, LGBTQ+ people, and young people. He has also served as the director of Federal Advocacy and Government Affairs at the Trevor Project. This is the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ young people. He is also an adjunct Professor of Law at the American University Washington College of Law.
Preston was the first openly LGBTQ Chair of the Washington Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and, in 2021, was voted D.C.’s Most Committed Activist by Washington Blade readers and runner-up in 2022. He has been featured in Washington Post, BET.com, The Root, The Atlantic, Buzzfeed, CNN, and others. He was named a 2021 Rockwood Fellow for Leaders in Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice and was named one of the 2020 Best LGBTQ Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association.

He stated that coming out was both liberating and contricting for him. It was, however, beautiful although the consequences were occasionally ugly. Mitchum states that he is glad to have come out.
