Peyton LoCicero Career

LoCicero serves at WGNO as a news reporter and anchor. Before joining WGNO-TV, an ABC affiliate station, she was in Destin-Panama City, Northwest Florida, working for WMBB News 13, an ABC affiliate station. There she was holding the position of a reporter and managed the satellite location of the station(bureau chief).

LoCicero started her journalism career in Tupelo, Mississippi, where she was working for an NBC/ABC affiliated television station, WTVA as the event reporter. A the same time, she was a student at the University of Mississippi, still serving at the university’s News Watch 99. Also, she was the personal assistant to the famed chef, Emeril Lagasse, as well as Alden, his wife.

The award was for her thorough coverage of Hurricane Michael, which destroyed most of the viewing area of WMBB, and her ability to motivate the communities surrounding the area after the severe storm.

The “rally” and motivates of LoCicero helped provide resources and critical help to those people who were hardest hit by the hurricane. The Dick Fletcher Excellence in Media Award was presented to her at the National Governor’s Hurricane Conference. There, she was also honored for her excellent efforts to enlighten and educate the public about recovery, hurricanes, and hurricane preparedness in the state of Florida. She showed unusual skills as a broadcast journalist. The skills included; making it understandable to the layperson and communicating information during a disastrous national weather event.

While providing life-saving information, she created an atmosphere of trust with her audience, having a lot of confidence. The most well-attended and largest hurricane-related conference in the United States is the Governor’s Hurricane Conference.
