Christy moved back to Lubbock after spending seven years in Philadelphia. He worked for Comcast Networks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, holding the positions of Sports Reporter/Anchor. Christy is a twice nominee for best Sports Reporter in the Mid-Atlantic Emmys. Also, Christy won an Emmy Award for “Best Sports Show” in the year 2004, just before he returned to Lubbock, allowing him to leave Philadelphia on top.
Christy returned to Lubbock after seven years in the big city to continue his impassioned style of sports broadcasting, which appeals to both sports fans and non-sports fans. Christy’s distinctive approach and viewer-interaction sportscasts captivated many people during his first term as Sports Director of KCBD, while he was at NewsChannel 11 from the year 1995 to the year 1997, by being amusing, instructive, and inventive. His Sports Challenges, which included local sports and even his motorbike mishap, were a hit with audiences on the South Plains.
Christy has received multiple Texas AP Broadcasters Best Sportscast awards since his return to Lubbock.
