Pedram Javaheri is an Iranian-American Meteorologist working for CNN in Atlanta, Georgia. He joined the station in June 2010.

Javaheri graduated from elementary school and high school in Redmond, Washington, and then went to college at Arizona State University and Mesa Community College. He graduated from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Meteorology. He is also a proud alumnus of Mississippi State University, where he graduated with degrees in Meteorology and Broadcast Journalism. Javaheri speaks fluently in English, Turkish, and Persian.

Javaheri serves at CNN International as a weather anchor and meteorologist. He also often appears on HLN’s ‘Morning Express with Robin Meade,’ and CNN’s ‘Early Start’ show. On an occasional basis, Javaheri serves as an anchor for CNN International news shows. Javaheri is an active member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. 

Over the years with CNN, he has had chances to take coverage on major natural disasters in recorded history. He reported on Super Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest and deadliest storm to have ever made landfall, as it moved ashore across the Philippines in the year 2013. Javaheri was one of the 1st meteorologists to cover and report one of the deadly tsunamis and most extensive earthquakes in history, for example, a 9.1 quake off the coast of Japan that unleashed a destructive tsunami in the year 2011.

Before Javaheri joined CNN, he worked in central California as an environmental reporter and meteorologist. Before that, he was working at a local station in Utah State as a chief meteorologist overseeing all-weather operations. During his leisure, he likes to run, play basketball, and go on hikes.

Awards and recognition

Throughout his career, he has won several awards and honors. While in central California, he was nominated for an Emmy Award, for outstanding achievement in weather from the Northern California and San Francisco Emmy Awards. Iranian.com recognized him as its Iranian of the Day in August 2010. Javaheri was among the CNN weather crew that earned a prestigious Peabody Award for covering the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in the year 2010.
