Patrick Evans is an American Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist currently working for KESQ-TV since joining the station in December of 2018. You can catch his forecasts every morning, i.e. at 5 to 7 am and every noon, on News Channel 3. Also, you can catch him hosting the show, “Eye on the Desert”, at 12:45 pm. Additionally, Evans hosts the afternoon drive on KPSF Studio 100.9 FM/1200, from 2 to 7 pm.
Evans began his first TV career when he was 17 years old. He attended the University of Virginia, where he studied Communications, Political Science, and Environmental Sciences. While at the university, he began working for WVIR-TV, as a weekend meteorologist and then went to the morning newscast following graduation. Later that year, Evans took over the Noon, 6, and 11 pm programs. He then moved to CBS station WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia, in the late 1990s.
At WDBJ, he has various roles, such as features, weather, and anchoring a high school quiz show. He covered events all throughout the country, such as the NCAA National Championship football game in the year 2000 and other bowl games. Evans also went worldwide, covering Dr. Robert Ballard’s “Jason Project” with a trip to Peru and live broadcasting from the Amazon River’s jungles.
Evans moved to Orange County, California in the year 2000 to pursue a lifetime dream of becoming Chief Meteorologist for the Orange County Newschannel. He went to the Palm Springs area in the month of August, the year 2002 to take a job as an on-air meteorologist with the new Coachella Valley CBS affiliate, where he has worked for nearly 20 years. After that, he now joined KESQ-TV.
Evans has been on the boards of the Loma Linda Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Desert Symphony, and the Family YMCA of the Desert. Reading with Me, Pathfinder Ranch, and Animal Samaritans are all on his board of directors.
As a consequence of his efforts with philanthropic groups throughout the Valley, Evans was awarded the 366th Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars in April 2014. He is also a proud nominee for an Emmy for his work on KESQ’s morning newscast.
