Patrick Ellis is an American Meteorologist working for WLBT-TV/WDBD-TV. He currently works with the WLBT/WDBD First Alert Weather team every afternoon. Ellis is thrilled to return to Mississippi to finish his career. His fascination with weather stems from his childhood dread of thunderstorms. Ellis was an ardent storm chaser while at Mississippi State, especially on 2 of the most severe weather days in recent memory in central Mississippi, April 15th and 27th, 2011.
He is a proud alumnus of Mississippi State University. He began his career as an on-air meteorologist while still a student at Mississippi State University, providing weekend weather at an ABC station in Greenville, Mississippi, as well as doing weekend forecasts at WeatherVision. Ellis was able to refine diverse skill sets in North Carolina, from usual severe weather to winter weather to tropical forecasting, over his four years there, having to cope with eight systems striking the Carolinas.
Ellis believes that one should never stop learning, thus each day, each forecast (good or poor), is an opportunity to learn and grow. During his leisure time, he likes cheering on his Mississippi State Bulldogs and going on travel or relaxing by a body of water, whether it’s the Rez or the beach.
