In 2004, he joined Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he attained his Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology in 2008. From April 2008 to September 2010, he worked at WETM-TV (NBC)where he served as a meteorologist based in Elmira, New York. In October 2010, he joined WWLP where he served as the morning /Noon and Traffic Reporter based in Chicopee, Massachusetts till his departure in January 2021.
Bannin has also received several awards including the First-Place award while working at WWLP-TV. He also won several team Emmy and Regional Murrow awards as well as an AP Award for Best Weather Coverage.
