Lenghi serves at CBS as a correspondent for CBS News based in New York City, reporting for all programs and platforms, including the “CBS Evening News,” “CBS This Morning,” and CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 digital streaming news service. Lenghi started his career with CBS News in May 2017 as Washington, D.C.-based reporter for CBS Newspath, a 24/7 news-gathering program for CBS stations and broadcasters around the globe.
While in CBS News, Lenghi has covered a wide variety of national and foreign stories, including a string of deaths of U.S. visitors in the Dominican Republic; the Trump administration; pending litigation against pharmaceutical firms distributing opioids; the sexual harassment prosecution against and subsequent death of businessman Jeffrey Epstein; the government shutdown; the killing of baseball great D. It was also part of CBS News’ thorough coverage of the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting and coverage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Before joining CBS Newspath, Lenghi spent three years as a general assignment reporter for WUSA-TV, a CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. Prior to WUSA-TV, Lenghi spent two years at KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, where he covered the news that resonated globally, such as the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion that killed 15 people and the 2011 World Series.
He started his broadcast career at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He spent five years reporting news breaks, from brush fires, floods, presidential races, debates, and political controversies. In 2015, Lenghi received the Emmy Award for reporting on the abduction of the 8-year-old child, Relisha Sturdy, who vanished in 2014 and was never identified. He earned a Bachelor’s in History and Journalism from Coastal Carolina University.
