Mike Shildt Minor Leagues
Shildt started his Major League Baseball career working as an associate scout with the league for three seasons. He, later on, moved on to serve as the area scout for South Carolina, Virginia, and North Carolina. He then started his minor league on a recommendation from John Mozeliak who is a Cardinals general manager.
For this league, he had to go to New York alongside the team for the Single-A affiliate in the New York–Penn League. Johnson City posted a 42–24 win–loss record in the second season and won the Appalachian League championship. Scout.com named him St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Manager of the Year after Johnson City won the league. Shildt then joined St. Louis Cardinals roster after Johnson City’s season ended. He also received the George Kissell Award and the Appalachian League Manager of the Year award from the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
