He kickstarted his baseball career in 1998 playing for the New York Yankees and later on played for the Florida Marlins from 1999 to 2005. From 2006 to 2010, he played for the Boston Red Sox which honored him with an on-field ceremony as he would go on to retire after the 2010 MLB.
Lowell has also received several awards and honors including the 2006 Jackie Jensen Spirit Award and the 2006 MLB.com Defensive Player of the Year Award. He was part of the 2003 World Series champion Marlins recording 105 RBI and accumulating 32 home runs.
