Before going to KMOV, he served at WHAS 11 in Louisville, Kentucky as a news reporter. He started his career at the NBC affiliate, WGEM-TV in Quincy, Illinois as a fill-in anchor and news reporter. Colombo holds 2 National Headliner Awards, 5 Regional Edward R. Murrow awards, and 8 Regional Emmy awards, which he won throughout his journalism career.
