He played six years in the National Football League, two seasons each with three teams. Adamle was a fifth-round pick (120th overall) of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1971 NFL Draft and later played for the New York Jets and Chicago Bears.

Adamle serves at NBC 5 Chicago as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. From 1971 to 1972, he was the fourth-round draft choice of the Kansas City Chiefs. Between (1973-74) he played for the New York Jets. His fans couldn’t be happier when he returned home to play with the Chicago Bears (1975-77). Adamle joined NBC Sports from 1977-83 where he hosted SportsWorld, co-hosted the network’s NFL pre-game show (1978-81), and three Super Bowls, and handled a variety of assignments. He was the sideline reporter for ABC Sports’ coverage of the USFL since 1984. Then he was the sports anchor/reporter for WLS-TV/Chicago from 1983 to 1989. Later he handled Wide World of Sports assignments for ABC Sports and he was a popular syndicated series from 1989-94, in which he hosted American Gladiators.

He also comes to NBC 5 Chicago from ESPN2 where he hosted a college football studio show each Saturday during the season beginning in 1996. later he also hosted The X Games late at night, along with the network’s Pro Beach Volleyball and World Special Olympics coverage and Destination Extreme programming. He then joined ESPN in 1994 as college football’s lead sideline reporter. Later he worked for the network in 1985 as an analyst for the United States Football League (USFL).

World Wrestling Entertainment (2008)

On January 27, 2008, at the Royal Rumble, he began working as an interviewer for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Adamle then worked on WWE Raw as an interviewer, often making mistakes with each onscreen appearance. During his debut, Adamle mistakenly referred to Jeff Hardy as “Jeff Harvey”. Adamle later became ECW’s play-by-play announcer on April 15, replacing Joey Styles. He continued to make frequent mistakes during his commentary duties on ECW, booker Paul Heyman with former ECW owner and former talent Lance Storm criticizing Adamle for them. On April 29, he left a broadcast of ECW before the main event match, and his partner Tazz was asked to do the same. This was worked into a storyline as WWE reported that he and Tazz may have left due to fan criticism of Adamle’s commentary. The following week, Adamle cut a promo apologizing for his actions.
