Michelle Li is an American Emmy Award-winning News Reporter/Anchor currently working for KSDK-TV since joining the station in June 2016. She currently reports, as well as anchors on special projects, general news, and consumer advocacy.
Previously, she was in Seattle, Washington State, working for an NBC-affiliate TV station, KING-TV, KSDK’s sister station. There she served as a consumer reporter and morning anchor. Before that, she was working for stations in Springfield, Missouri; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Madison, Wisconsin, as the Main Evening News Anchor.
Li says that she’s very pleased and humbled to return home to Missouri and work for a dream station. KSDK is a historic newsroom with famous journalists, and the people of St. Louisiana are certainly among the best on the planet. Local journalism is more important than ever, and she’s excited to get her feet wet and try her best to make a difference both outside and inside the newsroom.
Li is a proud alumnus of the University of Kansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. Throughout her career, she has won 9 regional Emmy Awards, 4 national Murrows Awards. Her dedication to international and domestic adoption concerns earned her an Angels in Adoption award from Congress. Michelle spent many summers as a Korean adoptee assisting with adoptive families and orphanages in Seoul.
She started a television show in Missouri to help foster kids find more permanent homes, and she spoke at the National Press Club to raise awareness about international adoption. In the year 2020, she won a coveted Peabody award for her efforts in a pioneering series about identity and race.
She has covered everything from landslides, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, blizzards, and ice storms, because she has lived on both coasts, in the south, and in the Midwest. Her favorite assignment was covering the Wisconsin Badgers’ two Final 4 championships.
